But, with Call of Duty Vanguard doing poorly in the market, the developers had to buckle up.

Activision, too, presented a press release for their Q2 performance.

But, eagle-eyed informants and fans didn’t just read the financial statistics.

They also pinpointed a subtle, yet strong hint that the company is, indeed, planning to release a mainline game next year! Activision might not leave Call of Duty fans empty-handed in 2023 after all Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is slated to release on October 28, this year.

It is a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare I.

As Activision mentioned, a free-to-play sequel to today’s Warzone will also release after Modern Warfare II.

According to Bloomberg’s report from February, Activision had planned to focus on Warzone 2.

0 and Modern Warfare II only for this year and next.

With that being said, the report doesn’t seem true anymore.

As it happens, the latest Q2 press release from Activision reveals that the company is planning on releasing a premium game next year too.

Charlie Intel reported, “In Activision Blizzard’s Q2 2022 earnings press release, the company seems to imply that there will in fact be a new premium Call of Duty in 2023.

” Charlie Intel further clarifies that premium content doesn’t imply Modern Warfare II DLCs.

In fact, Activision refers to premium content as paid mainline experiences, that are released every year.

With no mainline game in 2023, it would have been the first time in 2 decades that fans had to go without a premium and exclusive CoD experience.

However, the earlier report claimed that Activision is planning to focus on DLC content for Modern Warfare II.

In addition, Warzone 2.

0 was also in the picture.

While fans are excited, Activision hasn’t revealed the situation of 2023’s slated experience.

So, fans don’t really know what to expect.

Then again, it could be just speculation.

Some tried to guess.
